“We are all part of the American family, and we have a responsibility to help members of that family when they are in need.” -Senator Ted Kennedy.
What makes me the most sad is that many of us Democrats are now feeling as though we did not take the whole thing seriously enough.
I remember thinking a couple of months back, “This is Massachusetts, and we are talking about Ted Kennedy’s seat.” I am guilty. I did not take it seriously.
…But I also believe that…
It was easy to beat Coakley… especially for someone with a movie-star quality and lots of donation money.
Essentially, Scott Brown won the election the same way that Barack Obama won the presidency. He seemed “cooler.” Martha Coakley was as boring as John McCain, but without the badass P.O.W. background.
I’m surprised I was so surprised.
And so we fight on.
